Piyush Goyal holds talks with Starlink team on investment in India

Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal held discussions with a group from Starlink, the satellite internet services company owned by Elon Musk. The delegation from Starlink included Vice President Chad Gibbs along with Senior Director Ryan Goodnight.

"Minister Goyal shared on X after the meeting that discussions included Starlink's innovative technology platform, current collaborations, and future investment strategies in India."

Recently, Airtel and Jio have teamed up with Starlink to provide the latter's high-speed satellite internet services to customers in India.

Satellite telecommunications in India will assist the nation in delivering essential services to remote interior areas where traditional telecom options are often expensive.

Starlink's arrival in India has become more prominent recently, following Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential election for a second term. Elon Musk is an advisor to President Trump.

According to its website, Starlink is the first and largest satellite constellation globally, utilizing a low Earth orbit to provide broadband internet that supports streaming, online gaming, video calls, and additional activities.

Starlink provides fast, low-latency internet access to users globally. Starlink claims its satellites are regularly enhanced with the latest technology.
