Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal held meetings in London aimed at enhancing investment relations and reinforcing bilateral trade between India and the United Kingdom.
Goyal is in London for two days to participate in a number of talks aimed at strengthening business ties.
On the first day of his visit, Goyal spoke with a series of business leaders to gather their views and ideas for the new venture. He met with the Revolut App Chairperson Martin Gilbert to talk about how there's enormous development potential for the fintech ecosystem in India. They also discuss the need to forge with international companies in order to spur innovation and help the industry grow.
Goyal also met with the De Beers Group CEO, Al Cook, and his staff. They talked about the diamond industry's growth prospects, sustainable practices, India's chances in the sector, and worldwide trends in the gem and jewelry sector.
That evening, Goyal was involved in discussions with the Indian business delegation at a dinner, focusing on opportunities for further and mutual cooperation with the UK, while negotiations have also taken place over subjects of considerable growth of Indian industries.
He had previously met with Jonathan Reynolds, Secretary of State for Business and Trade in the UK, upon his arrival in London for further discussion of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two countries.
Randhir Jaiswal, the spokesman of the Ministry of External Affairs, has said that both India and the UK are quite serious about taking further steps towards bringing the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) into existence, just as negotiations have been resumed.
