UltraTech plans to have 500 electric trucks in operation by June 2025, in line with the eFAST initiative of the Indian government. The company has been leading the way in implementing eco-friendly logistics solutions. In 2021, CNG vehicles were launched, LNG vehicles were introduced in 2022, and electric trucks will be rolled out in 2024. Presently, UltraTech utilizes 468 CNG trucks and 67 LNG trucks in partnership with logistics providers to move goods and materials between its different production sites.

They are increasing the usage of electric vehicles for transportation. This action is intended to decrease the company's carbon footprint and help achieve its sustainability objectives. UltraTech intends to use 100 electric trucks to transport clinker between its production plants in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. This program aims to reduce annual carbon dioxide emissions by 17,000 metric tons.

The choice to expand comes after a successful trial program started in January 2024. UltraTech started by using five electric trucks on the identical route. The pilot program also emphasized the growth of charging stations and educating drivers on how to use the electric trucks.

This growth makes UltraTech the initial cement company in India to use electric trucks in such a substantial amount and for such an extended distance. The company is also looking into other ways to include more electric trucks in its logistics operations and intends to carry out another trial program for transporting clinker between two separate manufacturing facilities.
