Swaraj Tractors, Mahindra Susten Collaborate on 26 MW Solar Expansion

Swaraj Tractors as part of Mahindra Group has teamed up with Mahindra Susten to develop a 26 MW solar energy project located at Bathinda in Punjab as a key initiative for sustainable manufacturing. Mahindra Susten continues its growth as an independent power producer (IPP) through its entry into another state.

The Punjab solar power project represents the largest capacity in the state and it provides green energy for Swaraj Tractors manufacturing at four facilities in Mohali and Dera Bassi which boosts the company's renewable power use to 50 percent. The renewable energy strategy is set to generate 60 million kWh each year, At the same time, preventing the release of 54,600 tonnes of CO2.

"By leveraging Mahindra Susten's expertise, we are confident of achieving our renewable energy goals and making a significant contribution to Punjab's evolving energy landscape," said Gaganjot Singh, CEO, Swaraj Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.

"With this groundbreaking solar project, we are taking a pioneering step in introducing green energy at such a large scale in tractor manufacturing for the first time in India," said Hemant Sikka, President, Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.

This action positions Swaraj Tractors as a frontrunner in making sustainable agricultural equipment, which is in line with India’s growth toward clean energy.
