Slumberzone, one of New Zealand's premier mattress companies, is all prepared to enter India's thriving $2.5 billion mattress industry. The company will set up its first factory in Hyderabad with an initial investment of Rs 100 crore. The expansion is targeted at offering world-class sleep solutions while leveraging India's manufacturing capabilities for the domestic as well as international markets.

Started by Ranjay Sikka in 2005, Slumberzone is New Zealand's third-largest mattress and sleep accessories company, with annual sales of more than Rs 200 crore. The entry of the company into India is in sync with the rising consumer demand for high-end sleep products with more hectic lifestyles.

Vidhul Sikka, Chief Business Officer and Director of Slumberzone India said, "With Slumberzone, our aim is to challenge China's dominance in the mattress industry by offering superior quality products and strengthening India's position as a global export hub."

"With a strong focus on technology-driven sleep solutions and sustainability in India, we target $100 million in annual revenue, reinforcing our position as an industry leader worldwide over the next 5 years," he added.

The Hyderabad plant is projected to come onstream by March 2026 with a daily production capacity of 1,000 units. Slumberzone will employ 200-250 local staff with the latest technology and green practices incorporated in its manufacturing.

The move, announced in New Delhi, highlights New Zealand's deepening trade relationship with India. Slumberzone hopes to make India a strategic export center, extending its reach to North America, Australia, Europe, and the Middle East. It aims to open 20 retail outlets and an eCommerce platform in the next three years, using an omnichannel strategy to target more customers.

Ranjay Sikka, Slumberzone India’s Founder and Director said, "We are bringing an international product experience to Indian consumers, which will redefine the sleep market in India and create an international presence for the Slumberzone brand."

New Zealand's Prime Minister Christopher Luxon stated, "It is great to see ambitious New Zealand manufacturing companies, like Slumberzone, choosing India to scale up their operations. 'Made for India, Made in India' enhances collaboration, broadens our trade relationship, and contributes to the growth of both our economies."
