Optiemus Unmanned Systems, a subsidiary of electronics contract manufacturer Optiemus Infra, has declared to allocate Rs 140 crore in developing its drone production capabilities.

The investment intends to expand the company's ability to provide drone services in a variety of industries, including agricultural, mapping, and related sectors. Ashok Gupta, chairman of Optiemus Unmanned Systems, outlined the company's ambitious plan to enhance local drone component manufacture, according to TOI.

"We are on track to achieve 75 per cent indigenisation by the end of this fiscal year," Gupta stated, underlining the firm's commitment to the government's 'Make in India' initiative.

The expansion comes at a time when India's drone industry is booming, fueled by rising demand from both the public and private sectors. Gupta highlighted the company's willingness to capitalize on this development, saying, "We are set to leverage our expertise in drone technology to offer a cost-effective and efficient solution for agricultural and defence needs."

Optiemus Unmanned Systems' move is intended to offer new job opportunities and help to the development of a strong drone ecosystem in India. It also supports the government's quest for self-sufficiency in crucial technology, which might minimize the country's reliance on foreign drone systems.
