New electronics scheme to boost India’s role in global value chains: Vaishnaw

Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Railways, and Information & Broadcasting, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, today emphasized the remarkable progress India has achieved in electronics manufacturing over the past decade under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's leadership. Addressing the VVDN industry facility in Manesar, Haryana, the Minister emphasized that the recently approved New Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme enhances India’s role in the global electronics supply chains. The Minister stated that the guidelines for the scheme will be released shortly.

In a significant milestone for India's electronics manufacturing sector, Union Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw officially opened VVDN Technologies' advanced Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Line and Mechanical Innovation Park at the firm's Global Innovation Park in Manesar, Haryana.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that electronics production in India has increased five times over the past six years, with the overall value exceeding ₹11 lakh crore. Over the past ten years, exports have increased six times and now surpass ₹3.25 lakh crore. Describing this as one of the greatest success tales of the ‘Make in India’ initiative, Shri Vaishnaw remarked that the sector currently employs more than 25 lakh individuals and is set for rapid expansion in the near future.

While visiting the facility, Shri Vaishnaw observed the expanding capabilities of India's design ecosystem, highlighting that the site is home to more than 5,000 engineers engaged in developing intricate, AI-integrated systems. "The Minister remarked that India currently possesses the talent to not only produce but also design advanced electronic products, which provides the nation a considerable advantage over those that lack design skills." The Union Minister also engaged with the engineers and workers at the facility, encouraging them to keep contributing to the enhancement of the electronics manufacturing ecosystem in India.
