Maruti Suzuki to Set Up Osamu Suzuki Centre to Boost Manufacturing in India

Maruti Suzuki India and Suzuki Motor Corporation announce the proposal for the establishment of Osamu Suzuki Centre of Excellence (OSCOE) in India as a homage to the leader of the company, Osamu Suzuki.

The announcement was made at a memorial event on Wednesday at Yashobhoomi, Delhi, in remembrance of Late Osamu Suzuki, Former Chairman, Suzuki Motor Corporation, who passed away on 25th December 2024, in Japan, as per the press release of the company.

Suzuki brought the Japanese way of thinking about manufacturing to India. These thoughts are deep-rooted into the relevance of the future growth of competitive manufacturing in India, the release stated.

The Centre of Excellence is being established in recognition of Suzuki's contribution towards nation-building and to popularly disseminate his manufacturing philosophy leading to Maruti Suzuki's success in India.

OSCOE is suggested to be set up in Gujarat and Haryana. It will further national objectives of high manufacturing growth, increase the standards of component manufacturers to render supply chains of the country globally competitive, to build infrastructure, and develop programs in association with academic and others to propagate the Japanese manufacturing philosophy.

The program will include formal lessons and lectures, discussions, and seminars, among others. Suzuki was a visionary, who made car ownership available to the common man in India, and was instrumental in India emerging as a major automobile producing country in the world. His manufacturing philosophy contributed to the success of Maruti Suzuki and the development of a globally relevant automobile component industry.
