
Maruti Suzuki Manesar Plant Hits 1 Crore Production Milestone
Maruti Suzuki India Limited has achieved an important milestone as the Manesar production facility has surpassed 100 million cumulative production mark. Maruti Suzuki stated that the popular compact SUV Brezza was the first vehicle to be produced at the plant, emphasizing the company's increasing influence in the SUV market.
The Manesar facility accomplished this milestone in only 18 years, making it Suzuki's quickest global automotive manufacturing plant to reach 1 crore in production.
The factory started working in October 2006, covers 600 acres, and produces various models like Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, Ciaz, Dzire, Wagon R, S-Presso, and Celerio. These vehicles are used in both local and global markets, being exported to regions like Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, and nearby Asian nations.
Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, "With a strong focus on local manufacturing of components, since inception, the Company has been able to establish a vast supply chain in India."
He added, "Through our large-scale manufacturing facilities, we have been able to provide direct and indirect employment to millions of people. Along with our supply chain partners, we will continue to contribute to making automobile industry in India self-reliant and globally competitive."
The Manesar plant has not just catered to the local market but also been crucial to Maruti Suzuki's worldwide growth initiatives. The factory produced the Baleno, the company's inaugural passenger car sent to Japan for export.
