Maruti Suzuki India, the largest automobile manufacturer, shipped out 1,81,444 units during the April-October timeframe this financial year, showing a 17 percent increase compared to the corresponding period last year. In the previous financial year, the company shipped 2.83 lakh units. At present, the company sends 17 different models to close to 100 countries across Latin America, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

"Aligned with the Government of India's flagship 'Make in India' initiative, Maruti Suzuki is committed to deep localisation and multiplying exports," Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) MD & CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said in a statement.

Today, he added that the auto major accounts for 40 per cent of passenger vehicles exported from India.

"Our exports from India have grown by three times from four years ago. Inspired by this global demand, the company is determined to diversify and ramp-up vehicle exports to 7.5 lakh units by 2030-31," Takeuchi said.

He pointed out that export growth is increasing due to the government's positive policies and trade agreements with certain markets. The top export models from Maruti Suzuki are Fronx, Jimny, Baleno, Dzire, and S-Presso. MSI started exporting vehicles in 1986.

In September 1987, Hungary received its initial shipment of 500 cars. The company achieved vehicle exports of 1 million units in 2012-13 and reached the second million in under 9 years by 2020-21.
