Malaysia Shows Interest To Assist India's Semiconductor Manufacturing Program
Malaysia is eager to promote India's semiconductor manufacturing initiative with its proven industry expertise, according to Norman Dzulkarnain Nasri, Consul (Trade), Consulate General of Malaysia in India.
“Malaysia has a huge electronic manufacturing cluster in Penang and it also has a huge deposit of silica, which is used in semiconductors,” Nasari said while speaking at an interactive session organised by MVIRDC World Trade Center Mumbai.
He also urged Indian experts to provide practical training in the electronics and digital technology industries, citing India's world-renowned technical educational institutes, such as IITs. Earlier, Ahmad Zuwairi Yusoff, Consul General, Consulate General of Malaysia, discussed strengthening economic and investment links with India.
“The visit of three Malaysian ministers to India, this year, to explore partnership in tourism, human resource development and trade is a significant move to strengthen bilateral ties. The Consular offices of Malaysia in Mumbai are keen to partner with WTC Mumbai in organizing trade programs, trade fairs and facilitating trade delegation between both the countries,” Yusoff added.
Malaysia, India's third largest trade partner in the ASEAN area, has expressed an interest in partnering with World Trade Center Mumbai to explore bilateral trade and investment opportunities, he noted. The Malaysian Consulate General has specialized offices in Mumbai to promote bilateral trade and investment. In her welcome remarks, Rupa Naik, Executive Director of WTC Mumbai, emphasized her pleasure in working with Malaysian Consular offices on trade promotion projects.
