The Lubrizol Corporation recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the acquisition of a 120-acre land in Aurangabad, India, for the purpose of building a new manufacturing plant to cater to the increasing demand in the transportation and industrial fluid sectors in the region.

The first stage of the project includes an estimated investment of around US$ 200 million, which is the biggest investment the company has ever made in India, and expands on previous investments in the area.

The plant will be the second-largest manufacturing facility for the company worldwide and the biggest manufacturing facility in India once it is finished. The construction will be carried out in stages over the next few years, allowing for potential growth in the future.

“Lubrizol has made meaningful investments in India for more than five decades,” said Flavio Kliger, President of Lubrizol Additives. “This new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility will allow us to enhance our local capacity and capabilities for our Additives business with the potential to support other Lubrizol businesses and regions in the future.”

The unveiling of the Aurangabad facility shows the company's newest attempts to speed up expansion and improve its local manufacturing capabilities in the area.

“Lubrizol understands the importance of a local-for-local approach, from India-based manufacturing to in-region innovation to continued investment in a local talent,” says Bhavana Bindra, Managing Director, Lubrizol IMEA (India, Middle East and Africa). “We look forward to continuing to be partners in progress to our customers and serve as a catalyst for growth and inspired breakthroughs.”
