Jabil Inc to Set Up Second Manufacturing Plant in Gujarat

The multinational manufacturing conglomerate Jabil Inc is based in the United States plans to open its second plant in India in Gujarat. With a Rs 1000 crore investment the company hopes to increase its footprint in India.

Plans to investigate a silicon photonics post-wafer fabrication facility with sophisticated co-packaged optics capabilities are part of the agreement. Known for creating and producing electronic circuit board assemblies and systems as well as offering supply chain solutions Jabil Inc. wants to increase its footprint in the nation. We are pleased to welcome Gujarat to Jabils global network which consists of more than 100 locations in 25 countries.

This expansion demonstrates our capacity to put solutions in place that best serve our clients as companies negotiate changing market conditions said Matt Crowley Executive Vice President Global Business Units at Jabil. During the Gujarat SemiConnect IESA Vision Summit in Gandhinagar Jabil and the Gujarat government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the same time as the announcement.

Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel praised Jabils investment saying Jabils presence will enhance our semiconductor industrys growth and competitiveness while creating jobs for the next generation. For more than ten years Jabil has been involved in the photonics industry developing products providing optical networking solutions and handling large-scale production for data communications AI and telecommunications. Warehouse automation automotive healthcare and semiconductor equipment are among the industries that the company serves.

Gujarats drive for manufacturing keeps drawing significant investments solidifying its place as a major participant in the Indian semiconductor and electronics industry.
