Industrial Manufacturing Cluster to Be Set Up by Haryana Govt & NICDC
In a big boost to industrial growth, the Haryana government will set up an Industrial Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) close to Maharaja Agrasen Airport in Hisar on about 3,000 acres. The Rs 4,680 crore project will be developed together by the Haryana government and the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC), as per an official announcement issued on Tuesday.
The move came after a top-level meeting presided over by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, where Haryana Civil Aviation Minister Vipul Goel was also present.
During the meeting, officials told the Chief Minister that the central government, in collaboration with states, is developing integrated industrial corridors with multi-modal connectivity to drive manufacturing growth and foster planned urbanisation.
The Hisar IMC, to be developed under the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor, is set to become the largest industrial township among six planned across seven states. The project will be implemented in two phases.
Officials highlighted that the IMC is expected to attract investments of around Rs 32,000 crore and generate over 10,000 employment opportunities. The cluster will feature modern infrastructure, including roads, a water treatment plant, and a solid waste management plant (STP). A memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the NICDC and the Haryana government will be signed soon to facilitate the execution of the project.
"The IMC will attract investments from Indian and international companies," said Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. He also emphasized that proximity to the Maharaja Agrasen Airport would offer a significant advantage to industries.
Of the 7,200 acres demarcated in Hisar, around 4,212 acres are occupied by the airport, while the IMC will be developed on approximately 2,988 acres.
According to more significance to the place, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated a commercial flight from Maharaja Agrasen Airport to Ayodhya and laid the foundation stone for the new terminal building of the airport.
Along with the IMC, an Integrated Multi-Modal Logistics Hub will also be built on approximately 886 acres at Nangal Chaudhary, under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor that is also being built by NICDC.
Haryana stands to gain immensely through the presence of two large industrial corridors, whose arrival is said to bring vast investments and job opportunities to the state.
"Development of industries is crucial for realising the vision of a 'Viksit Haryana' under the 'Viksit Bharat' mission," said Chief Minister Saini, adding that the state government is committed to setting up 10 industrial model townships (IMTs) across Haryana. He has directed concerned officials to take the necessary steps to move the initiative forward.
