India can possibly grow as a parts trade export hub for Grundfos worldwide manufacturing supply. The advanced water solutions company Grundfos buys components for its 14 plants in Denmark, Germany, the United States, Singapore, China, Taiwan, and Japan that are worth approximately Rs 15,000 crore.

According to Shankar Rajaram, director of industry for the INDO region at Grundfos, the value of the components the company purchases varies depending on the year, product variants, and basket.

"It is sourced from different markets and the contribution from India for inhouse distribution is not significant. However, we have the potential to easily supply even if we take half of its value (Rs 7,000 crore)," he added.

Casting engineering components, machine components, and IT solutions are potential components. "While components are sourced from different geographies for the universal products, assembling and testing are done locally," he added.

In India, Grundfos has two assembly plants in Chennai and Ahmedabad. It provides industrial, commercial, and residential buildings, water utilities, and water solutions with pumps.

According to Usha Subramaniam, Grundfos Pumps India Pvt Ltd.'s country president for India, the business saw a 14 percent increase in revenue over the previous year (CY2022) "We had a turnover of Rs 900 crore in CY2023. The industries segment contributed 52% of this. She stated, "India offers good opportunities for our growth."
