India's first semiconductor assembly and test facility will be the upcoming Tata semiconductor assembly and test facility plant at Jagiroad in Morigaon district, with a cost of Rs 27,000 crore. Addressing attendees at the bhumi pujan of the semiconductor plant on August 3, the chief minister announced that Assam will produce cutting-edge electronic components at the plant in Jagiroad.

“Once operational, it will transform the industrial landscape of Assam and herald a new era of growth. The project is also expected to generate employment opportunities for more than 30,000 people,” he said.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, announced that the state government will create a Semiconductor Manufacturing Cluster in Jagiroad, in conjunction with the TSAT facility by Tata Semiconductors.

“Building an ecosystem of cutting-edge technology! In Jagiroad, alongside the upcoming TSAT facility, we are working on developing a Semiconductor Manufacturing Cluster to create a complete ecosystem,” CM Sarma said.

The semiconductor cluster is aiming for more than 61 different types of raw materials and more than 150 potential suppliers. The goal of establishing a Semiconductor Manufacturing Cluster is to draw essential suppliers of raw materials and equipment to the vicinity of the project location.

The government seeks to optimize logistics, guaranteeing cost-effective and prompt delivery. This program is predicted to also generate significant prospects for local businesses and industries.
