India is positioned to become the central location for green hydrogen, which is seen as the future fuel. The need for energy is increasing, with daily usage at 5.4 million barrels and expected to reach 7 million barrels by 2030.

Speaking at the 6th South Asian Geoscience Conference and Exhibition, Puri said, "With projects like hydrogen blending in natural gas pipelines, localization of electrolyzer-based technologies, and the promotion of bio-pathways for green hydrogen production, India is set to become a global champion in hydrogen production and exports."

The minister pointed out that the daily number of visitors to petrol stations is 67 million, which matches the total population of the UK, France, and Italy. He highlighted India's impressive increase in fuel consumption, which is triple the worldwide average. In the upcoming twenty years, India is projected to account for 25 percent of the rise in worldwide energy demand.

Puri stated that India is performing well in achieving availability, affordability, and sustainability, striking a balance between the three factors. He restated the country's strong dedication to energy security, backed by vigorous exploration and production initiatives.

Nevertheless, India, the third-largest consumer of crude oil worldwide, has a largely underdeveloped exploration sector. The nation has 651.8 million metric tons (MMT) of recoverable crude oil reserves and 1138.6 billion cubic meters (BCM) of recoverable natural gas reserves in its sedimentary basins awaiting exploration.
