India and the United States have bolstered their collaboration in the energy sector, focusing on grid modernization, energy storage, and enhancing manufacturing capacity. During a meeting between India’s Union Power Minister Manohar Lal and John Podesta, Senior Advisor to the US President for International Climate Policy, both parties explored areas of joint efforts to advance energy solutions.

Manohar Lal underscored the significance of the long-standing partnership between the two nations, emphasizing India's commitment to the 'Power & Energy Efficiency Pillar' under the Strategic Clean Energy Partnership (SCEP). He stressed the importance of collective action in achieving energy transition objectives.

John Podesta praised India's critical role as a partner and highlighted the need for building resilient supply chains. He pointed to opportunities for collaboration in clean energy, energy storage systems, and energy efficiency while also emphasizing US support for enhancing India’s manufacturing capabilities.

Discussions centered around grid and transmission modernization, with plans for technical exchanges to improve grid systems for future energy demands. Policy consultations and the possibility of financial support were also on the agenda. Another important topic was boosting India's manufacturing capacity in key areas like large transformers, as both nations explored reducing reliance on imports.

Additionally, they discussed state-level partnerships in long-duration energy storage research and the implementation of grid-scale battery storage solutions. The meeting reinforced the significance of the India-US alliance in advancing the global clean energy transition, with a shared commitment to deepening cooperation in these critical areas.
