The government aims to boost renewable energy production in the nation to 500 GW by 2030 and satisfy 50 percent of energy needs with renewable sources, Union minister Pralhad Joshi stated on Tuesday. Both central and state governments are swiftly progressing to achieve this promise, the renewable energy minister mentioned during the regional review meeting on renewable energy held here.

Hse indicated that the nation's energy needs are expected to double by 2032. He further mentioned that a decade ago, India ranked as the 11th largest economy in the world. Advancing at a rapid speed, the nation has emerged as one of the five largest economies currently and is on the path to becoming the third largest economy.

He stated that efforts are progressing quickly towards achieving energy self-sufficiency, allowing all sectors of the economy to advance.

The minister also stated that according to the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 2026), plans are underway to implement a green tax on the industrial usage of fossil fuels globally to decrease carbon emissions and encourage sustainable energy in the future.

In this scenario, it is our responsibility to promote renewable energy to maintain the competitiveness of Indian products in the global market and secure a brighter future for future generations while addressing global warming.
