
Britannia and Bel Foods opens local cheese manufacturing facility in India
Britannia Industries, a domestic food company, and Bel Group, a French dairy giant, recently opened a Cheese factory in India with an investment of Rs 220 crore. Britannia Bel Foods, the partnership between the two companies, has inaugurated a new facility in Ranjangaon, close to Pune in Maharashtra.
The factory will manufacture 10,000 tons of premium Britannia The Laughing Cow cheese items to cater to the increasing needs of Indian customers, as stated. It was stated that the establishment utilizes Britannia's milk procurement and support initiative with more than 3,000 local farmers.
"It is integrated within Britannia's state-of-the-art dairy production facility, which produces a comprehensive range of Britannia dairy products, including now Britannia The Laughing Cow Cheese with a full range of products: slices, blocks, spread, diced and cubes," it said.
Britannia Industries Limited is an Indian company that sells food products such as biscuits, bread, and dairy items on a global scale. Established in 1892, this is among the oldest companies in India and is now a part of the Wadia Group led by Nusli Wadia. By 2023, around 80% of its income was generated through sales of biscuit items.
The Bel Group's main office is located at 2 allée de Longchamp in Suresnes, Île-de-France. It produces and sells processed and semi-processed cheeses, often in single servings. The establishment of "Établissements Jules Bel" took place in 1865 in Orgelet within the Jura Department.
