Bajaj Auto Launches New Manufacturing Facility in Brazil
Bajaj Auto, an Indian automotive manufacturer, has built a new 9,600-square-metre manufacturing plant in Manaus, Brazil. The facility has both engine and car assembly lines, as well as a testing area. Production capacity will initially be limited to 20,000 units per shift, with intentions to increase to 50,000 units per year in the future.
“The new manufacturing capabilities will enable us to build a wider distribution network, introduce new products and meet growing expectations of our customers. This plant also signals our commitment to Brazil, to building an ecosystem of partnerships and integrating further into the automotive industry," said Rakesh Sharma, executive director of Bajaj Auto.
The Manaus plant has cutting-edge automated production lines and comprehensive quality control systems. These systems comprise several conveyor and transfer systems that seamlessly integrate various phases of manufacturing. The Protheus ERP system enables efficient operations in manufacturing, supply chain management, finance, and human resources. Initially, the plant will produce Dominar models, with intentions to offer Pulsar variants later.
Bajaj Auto is one of the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturers, with a global sales network that covers 100 countries. In India, the bike maker has recently upgraded its range of bikes, including the renowned Pulsar model. The business is currently preparing to introduce India's first CNG-powered motorcycle in July 2024.
