Jabil, an Apple supplier, plans to establish an electronics manufacturing plant in Trichy with a Rs. investment. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin stated that the amount is 2000 crore. The CM included it in three important announcements received by the state government on Tuesday.

"A significant investment of Rs 2000 crores at Tiruchirapalli by Jabil, a global leader in EMS. This will create 5000 jobs and create a new cluster for electronics manufacturing," he said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Reports stated that an agreement was signed by Jabil representatives and the Tamil Nadu state delegation in the presence of Chief Minister MK Stalin on Tuesday. Stalin, who is currently in the US for a 17-day trip to attract new investments, oversaw the exchange of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Tamil Nadu now has various main Apple suppliers such as Foxconn, Pegatron, Tata Electronics, and Corning due to Jabil's move into manufacturing in the state. The electronics manufacturing company also serves as a vendor for other big companies such as Cisco and HP. Their recently established establishment marks one of the initial substantial investments in Trichy, set to establish a new electronics hub similar to those seen in Sriperumbudur and Hosur following Tata Electronics' arrival.

The company's growth in India aligns with Cupertino-based Apple's increased focus on the Indian market. Apple has been steadily increasing its presence in India by working with its suppliers to expand its operations and reduce its dependence on China. The Jabil growth is also considered as a component of this broader plan.
