Apple Set to Increase Production in India
Apple, the maker of the iPhone, is planning to increase its production in India through vendors and anticipates employing approximately 5 lakh Indians over the next three years, as per government sources. The new hiring strategies will significantly increase the current 1.5 lakh Apple employees in India, most of whom work at Tata Electronics' two factories.
"Apple is accelerating hiring in India. At a conservative estimate, it is going to employ five lakh people in the next three years through its vendors and components suppliers," a senior government officer added.
The business, which is based in Cupertino, intends to increase production by more than five times, to the tune of around USD 40 billion, or 3.32 lakh crore, over the next four to five years. According to a Counterpoint Research study, Apple's proposals for expansion follow a successful year in India in 2023, when it achieved the highest revenue in the country for the first time.
The study also depicted that Apple exceeded 10 million units for the first time in a year and had the highest revenue.
According to research conducted by the trade intelligence service The Trade Vision, Apple also experienced a significant increase in iPhone exports from India in addition to having a great year in revenue. These exports doubled to USD 12.1 billion in the fiscal year 2023-2014 from USD 6.27 billion in the fiscal year prior, representing a significant increase of nearly 100%.
