Amitesh Kumar Sinha Named New CEO of India Semiconductor Mission
The India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) announced the appointment of Amitesh Kumar Sinha as its new chief executive. Sinha replaces Sushil Pal at the ISM. Earlier this month, Sinha was appointed an additional secretary at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
As the government prepares to begin the second phase of the India Semiconductor Mission, this nomination comes at a pivotal moment. Sinha has also served as ISM's CEO in the past.
He had previously worked at Meity as a joint secretary as well. He oversaw the creation of policies and the advancement of the electronics sector through a number of initiatives, such as production-linked incentive programs for mobile devices, IT hardware, electronic components, and the semiconductor sector through the Semicon India Program.
Sinha is a civil engineering graduate of Visvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering, Nagpur, and a member of the 1996 Indian Railway Accounts Service batch.
With a budget of ₹76,000 crore, the ISM is responsible for creating a strong, long-lasting ecosystem in India for the production, design, and packaging of semiconductors. As India aims to become a major player in the global semiconductor sector, Sinha's leadership is anticipated to be crucial in furthering these objectives.
