Amber Enterprises To Fund Rs 2,000 cr To Set up Printed Circuit Board Facility
Amber Enterprises plans to invest ₹2,000 crore in setting up a printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing facility in the country, according to two sources.
The potential investment follows its acquisition of a controlling position in Ascent Circuits, a printed circuit board assembly company, as the group works backwards to become a full-fledged electronics manufacturing services provider.
“The investment is expected to take place within the next few months," said one of the persons cited above, asking not to be named.
Amber Enterprises, which is transitioning from a primarily residential air-conditioning manufacturer to a diversified business-to-business electronics goods maker, will increase backward integration, aided by a partnership with South Korean firm Korea Circuit, which has long produced printed circuit boards. A printed circuit board is a hard, flat structure that contains electrical circuitry for connecting various components of an electronic device.
Earlier this year, the two companies announced that they will create a comprehensive portfolio of PCBs for diverse purposes in India's electronics manufacturing, including high-density interconnect, flexible PCBs, semiconductor substrates, multilayer, double-sided, and single-sided PCBs.
The various types of PCBs will allow it to provide services and solutions to industries such as mobile, information technology, semiconductors, home appliances, consumer electronics, aerospace, defense, medical, energy solutions, automotive, telecom, and data centers.
