AGI Greenpac, a manufacturer of glass packaging goods, is making a strategic investment of Rs 230 crore in Telangana to modernize, upgrade, and debottleneck its facilities.

According to AGI Greenpac CEO Rajesh Khosla, a portion of the investment will be used to modernize and reline the company's current furnaces, as well as to upgrade and debottleneck the commercial glass facilities, while some will be used for specialized glass facilities.

“We are investing in modernising existing furnaces, implementing cutting-edge technologies and optimising production. This will enable the company to better serve the growing demand for high-quality glass packaging solutions not just in India but also the global markets,” Khosla said on Wednesday.

The listed Somany Impresa group firm operates a 160-acre specialty and commercial glass manufacturing facility in Bhongir, as well as a commercial glass manufacturing unit in Motinagar, Borabanda, Hyderabad.

The specialty glass plant in Bhongir, which cost Rs 400 crore to build and will be fully operational in January 2023, has a daily production capacity of 154 tonnes of high-end glass bottles and jars used for cosmetics, perfumes, pharma, biotech, and premium alcoholic beverages.

“The investment in our production capabilities will ensure that we are well-positioned to meet the demand for our innovative, high-quality glass packaging solutions. This commitment to best-in-class practices not only strengthens our domestic offerings but also allows us to venture into new markets,” he said.
