Tata Power has fast-tracked Maharashtra's transition to green energy by solarizing more than 230 key public infrastructure locations in the state, aiding the government's effort to encourage solar power, a top official said on Thursday.

The installations, with a total of around 107 MW of clean energy capacity, comprise 100 hospitals (3.6 MW), 64 schools (2 MW), and 72 government and institutional buildings (100 MW) spread across key districts.

With these initiatives, Tata Power's installations are reducing 1.3 lakh tonnes of CO2 emissions, a reduction that is equated to planting 20 lakh trees, said the official. Solarisation of key public infrastructure is also in consonance with Tata Power's drive towards the clean energy shift and collective approach to sustainability. The company is lowering energy expenses, improving energy reliability, and enabling a decline in carbon emissions in Maharashtra. Tata Power continues to collaborate with multiple government agencies to enable the provision of scalable renewable energy solutions that promote the state's green development initiatives.

Tata Power has crossed over 1.5 lakh solar installations across the country, reaffirming its position as India's No. 1 rooftop solar player. Its cumulative installed rooftop capacity is close to 3 GW. The Tata Power Solaroof business has operations in 700+ cities, providing customers with up to 80% savings on electricity bills and a 25-year warranty on solar modules. The business is backed by a network of 575+ channel partners spread across over 300 cities, ensuring efficient last-mile service and delivery.

Recently, Tata Power had stated that over 50,000 consumers have chosen green power in its Mumbai distribution network this resulted in an annualised sale of 343 Million Units of green power and reduced carbon emissions by 251 Kilotons. The MERC had recently lowered the additional tariff for green power from 66 paise per unit to 25 paise per unit.
