
Karnataka, Chile Sign Pact To Boost Ties In Innovation And Technology
In an important development aimed at promoting international cooperation in science, technology, and innovation, the Government of Karnataka on Saturday announced that it has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with the Government of Chile during the Innovation Summit in Bengaluru. The Summit was held as part of the official visit of H E Gabriel Boric, President of Chile, and his high-level delegation to India.
An official statement said that the LoI will facilitate collaboration between Karnataka and Chile in emerging technologies, startups, research and development, knowledge exchange, and skill development. The LoI signifies a shared commitment to deepen innovation engagement and create pathways for collaboration between the two regions.
It also emphasized that Chile is the first country in Latin America to come on board with Karnataka under the Global Innovation Alliance (GIA) - a flagship program, which is an initiative of the Government of Karnataka, through which they are collaborating with over 30 countries to promote international cooperation in cross-border innovation, research, and entrepreneurship, again it said.
Gabriel Boric, president of Chile, embraced the partnership and urged startups and technology companies from Karnataka to explore how to leverage the possibilities that the country has to offer, praising the strong innovation ecosystem that is being developed there and openness to the world of collaboration.
Karnataka's IT Minister Priyank Kharge addressed the summit and expressed the state's strengths as a global technology and innovation hub, and suggested that the partnership was the start of greater collaboration between the ecosystems in Karnataka and Chile.
